Living With Advanced Cancer
When cancer has progressed to a point where oncologists are unable to destroy it, the focus is shifted to prolonging the patients’ life and maintaining their quality of life for as long as possible. Many oncology patients live with advanced cancer for many years and so minimising any symptoms is paramount to them being able to enjoy precious life experiences with their loved ones.
The CanConquer program has been designed to help people who are living with advanced cancer manage the symptoms of their disease and reduce the negative impact of long term medication or treatment. Our clients report experiencing:
- Improved energy levels and sleep patterns
- Reduced pain, nausea and reliance on medication to help with these symptoms
- Increased mobility and strength to manage day to day physical activity
- Less symptoms of mental health disorders, including depression and anxiety
This team of health professionals are trained in Physiotherapy (PINC and STEEL rehab trained), Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Dietetics, Oncology Massage and Lymphoedema services. This enables a holistic approach to your program, all under one roof.
We are able to work with all types of cancer, including:
- Breast Cancer
- Prostate Cancer
- Lung Cancer
- Ovarian Cancer
- Colorectal Cancer
- Brain Cancer
- Other Cancers We Treat
CanConquer is the first exercise oncology program to be offered within the Illawarra and gives local cancer patients access to services previously only available at larger cancer care facilities such as the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse in Sydney.
